gets the feeling of looking through a screen door. Likes the effect. Goes to play Isolation by Joy Division.

@6ft5: Screendoors, plexiglass, shrinkwrap — imagination is the limit; all manner of effects achieved. Would have played Mogwai, I think, but Joy Division sounds so right.
Is this a photograph of a photograph on a card??? Whatever, i like it.

@MaryP: Thanks for liking it, Mary, and thank you for your visit. It is a photograph of a slide, an old Ektrakrome slide. The slide was discovered and shot years after falling out of its storage box and sliding down in behind the shelving the box had been resting on. Heat and humidity, I suppose, getting jammed and scratched on top of whatever the aging process added to the mix delivered the result. For some strange reason it seemed fitting. The house is long gone; it and the barns burned to the ground not long after this image was shot. The elderly gentleman who lived there, and tethered goats to keep the yard clear, perished in the blaze.

Beautiful, silent, atmospheric, and always will be :)

@cath: Cheers, Cath, agreed, this scene haphazardly constitutes what has now become an iconic image of sorts.
Speaking of silence, it seems you owe me an email! Cheers, matey, 'till then!
@sherri: Thank you, Sherri, I appreciate your comment and your visit. The artistry is happenstance (but isn't much of life like that?), and the snow is pretty (although it can be "pretty" awful at times)! Cheers!
bleak, even depressing...i like it very much though.

@gbe: Thanks, gbe, depressing — yes — if you took in my response to MaryP earlier. Very sad. As a way of life, though, I can think of none better; the earth, the seasons (and a little compliance from Mother Nature). A life is lived.
Almost other worldly, very intense. A deep silence settled in...difficult to tell whether it is sunrise or sun setting, I like that.

@bluechameleon: Remote and silent, far from power lines, phone or cable; one with the land, an existence eeked out. Thanks for your visit, your lovely comments, bluechameleon, always appreciated. Cheers!
Great picture, the first thing that comes to mind is calm before the "storm", almost unnatural calm and the processing really helps in creating this mood in my... Excellent!

@Ivar: Thanks, Ivar, this certainly was the calm before the storm. The post-processing on this one, a combination of happenstance and time — as detailed in my response to MaryP earlier — but agreed, both contributed to creating an unforgettable mood. I appreciate your comments and your visit, cheers!
That's amazing, one one hand it looks like it's on canvas, but on the other hand the reality of the scene jumps out at you like 3-d... i love the barreness and it sure feels COLD.. very... trueman capote lol
